TURIS

WHAT IS THE TURIS METHOD?
Sublimation plasma (TURIS) and transurethral resection in saline is the newer developments in endoscopic, surgical treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, a new surgical method promising. The advantages of this surgery have made it a selection method in many centers around the world for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
With this new method surgical prostate treatment is simplified . With the surgical technique the prostate adenoma that prevents normal urination is removed. It is an endoscopic procedure through the urethra, without skin incision .

HOW IS THE METHOD TURIS DONE?
The surgery is usually done under general or spinal anesthesia.
Immediately after installation of anesthesia the urologist introduces to the urethra a special tool called resectoscope, which reaches the area of the prostate and bladder. The surgical endoscope carries the camera with which the urologist sees a screen inside the prostate.
Then with the use of an electrical loop, prostate adenoma is cut into many small pieces while coagulating the bleeding vessels. These pieces at the end of surgery, are sent for biopsy.
This new method enables another electrode with mushroom figure to vaporize the prostate almost bloodless with the use of plasma.
After surgery a catheter is placed through which passes special liquid wash. The catheter and wash typically remain for 24 hours until the prostate regio stops bleeding. The patient can at this point leave the clinic.

HOW MANY DAYS DOES THE RECOVERY LASTS?
The patient remains in the clinic with the catheter usually 24 hours. Then the catheter is removed and after urinating the patient can go home.AT THE first few days there is frequent urination .. Also there is usually blood in the urine for a few days. The symptoms are more intense the first 3-4 days and improving day by day.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THE METHOD?
H plasma-sublimation prostate TURIS has the following advantages:

  • Much smaller bleeding rates .
  • Reduced surgical time.
  • Ability to manage patients with large prostate without the need for open surgery.
  • Quick removal of the catheter , from the very next day.
  • Speedy recovery and leaving the clinic again the next day.
  • Quick return to daily activities.
  • Possibility of intervention in high-risk patients on anticoagulants.
  • Compatible with pacemakers because the bipolar current.
  • Absence of dangerous water intoxication syndrome (TUR Syndrome).
